Ok, defeating Spehiroth is not a difficult task. I will explain to you the maneuvers by which he can be defeated easily. If this fails for you, I will write a short tutorial on stat modification (via the Mog House in Traverse Town), which will boost your stats (Power and Defense) to make it easier to defeat him. If this fails too, you simply have to improve your KH battle methodology and reaction time.

Tactics: Now, most people are not able to defeat Sephiroth at Level 60, be it on Normal on Expert difficulty. So as a means of improving your character, raise him to Level 65+. This can be accomplished quickly by fighting the Heartless just before the Final Rest, the area where the door to Ansem is. Or, if you want to go hunting for important items needed to synthesize certain weaponary that may further serve you well in this battle, you can acquire them by these means:

For Crystal Crown, a powerful item that boosts several stats (Magic Power, HP, and Defense, among other things), you will need: 3 Lucid Crystals, 3 Power Crystals, 3 Shiny Crystals, and 3 Bright Crystals. Lucid Crystals (medium difficulty in obtaining through means of discovery) can be found by destroying Darkball Heartless. Power Crystals (hard to obtain by means of discovery) can be found by destroying Wyverns (the large red dragon Heartless found first in Hollow Bastion). The Shiny Crystals (easy to obtain through means of discovery) can be found by destroying Wizards (the Heartless that use several forms of magic). And lastly, Bright Crystals (very hard to obtain by means of discovery) can be found by destroying Defenders (the large Heartless that have shields with which to both defend themselves and attack others).

An item I recommend more than the Crystal Crown is the Atlas Armlet, which, aside from being an even more powerful magic booster, should also be easier to obtain. It requires 2 Shiny Crystals, 1 Mystery Goo, 3 Orichalcum, and 1 Gale. Shiny Crystals, as I stated before, can be found by destroying wizards. The easiest and fastest way to obtain Mystery Goo is to hit Rare Truffies (blue non-aggressive Heartless with yellow hats) multiple times in the air, 100 being the maximum number of times. I recommend doing this in Neverland in the area where you fought Captain Hook, as you can stay aloft the whole time and thereby make it easier for yourself to continue hitting the Rare Truffie. You can also kill the Black Fungus to obtain it, although it seldom happens that they drop one; or, to cast 3 spells of any kind on a White Mushroom in correct formation as provided by the pattern given by the White Mushroom (ie 3 Fire type spells on a White Mushroom), which sometimes also yields a Mystery Goo. Next, Orichalcum. This can be found in many treasure chests across the Kingom Hearts world, and can also be obtained any number of times by defeating the Behemoth (End of the World, end of the first area), which often drops it (It drops Mythril Shards, Mythril, and Orichalcum in amounts of 1 to 3 of any of each of these). Or, you can defeat the Angel Star and/or Invisible Heartless that appear in the room before the Final Rest to obtain it, although this will most likely take alot more time. Last to find is the Gale, which can be found also by defeating the Angel Star, and Invisible Heartless. These appear commonly when these Heartless are defeated and are not hard to obtain.

Lastly, I also recommend Omega Arts, probably the most powerful equipment for physical attack purposes; which cannot be synthesized, as well as the Heartguard, Gaia Gear, and Titan Chain. I won't bother going into too much more of how to obtain the items necessary to synthesize these; but I will provide some details. The Spirit Shard can be obtained by defeating either the Soldier or the Large Body (see Journal - Characters - Heartless). The Spirit Gem can be obtained by defeating the Air Soldier (see Journal - Characters - Heartless). Feel free to ask me if there are any items you want to know about where to find.

Ok, now to move on to Sephiroth. The best offensive ability Sora has against him is Strike Raid, for all levels, which can counter Sephiroth when he uses his Soul Harvest technique (reduces HP to 1 and MP to 0), and is likewise very accurate and thus a good selection (as it can be to the novice a difficult task to damage him). Use Sora's faster flying ability and air combos to attack Sephiroth. Be careful of Sephiroth's Hellfire attack, as it can damage Sora twice consecutively faster than any other of his attacks (which is important to hold prudence with because were you to be at 1 health from any of his attacks, as a result of an ability you have that saves 1 HP from a deathblow, it would not matter). When he is about to use Sin Harvest, if he is far away, use the flying ability and begin smashing him with an air combo as it will disrupt his casting of it and thereby, for the time being, cancel it. If he is close, roll to him and begin a ground combo. Or, for a fast way of doing it, cast Strike Raid with him locked on and it will quickly counter him.

Once you have Sephiroth at yellow health, the pace of the battle will increase. Sephiroth will now begin running and warping. Not surprisingly, it also becomes more difficult to injure him. Thus, you'll have to be able to rely on Strike Raid more often to hit for you. Also, because of the large damage Sephiroth inflicts to people who do not have their stats boosted to a good degree or are of low levels, you want to keep your Shield on most of the time, and keep a constant heal with Curaga (Taught to you by Aeris at Hollow Bastion after speaking with her for three times). Using your mana efficiently is the priority here. It will be easier for you to do this once you receive the abilities that boost your mana when you take damage. I recommend these abilities above all any.

Finally, he will begin using some death moves. These are relatively easy to avoid. For the asteroid death move, just keep moving up and down so that you don't get hit by the asteroids; or, if your mana gets boosted alot, you might want to get hit by the asteroids as it is unlikely that they will deal death blows to you - if there's no risk, why not let them damage you? The final asteroid, or meteor, rather, that he summons, does not do much more damage than the others. So it shouldn't be much of a deal if you can't avoid it (although it's very simple, just roll away from the direction Sephiroth turns to (the impact spot)). The other death move is something similar to those Sonic Blade/Arcs Arcanum sword death moves that Riku and Sora are so fond of. This one you should be more prepared for than the asteroid death move, as it hits more often. You want to have your Shield on as he commences with it, and you want to roll away often to avoid it. Once you deal Sephiroth the final blow, he'll be reduced to the white ashes that he spawned from. Good luck. Ultima keyblade is what I fought him with. Also, you want to synth three Gaia Bangles. I'm serious, those things help.

IRT Sizer-chan: Yeah, sports games are vastly overrated in most cases IMO. Plus companies like EA flood the market with new versions of the games with little to no changes other than team and player names updates, and they sell the games for full price. It's as if I took Grandia II, changed Ryudo's name to Ryo, added a new compass and different background for the menu system, and pretended it was a new game.
